LEGAL AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION LYVENNET COMMUNITY PUB WEBSITES posted by Charles Paxton

Major update with revision of the Privacy Policy information with GDPR rules’ introduction. Please Use The Scrollbar To Read This Entire Page. Thank you.

The LCP want you to be aware of an update to their Privacy Policy in preparation for the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which takes effect on May 25th, 2018. The GDPR is a working document that will be updated over time and we’re obliged to keep our online services legal.

You don’t actually have to do anything to enable greater rights to the protection of your data, that is granted by law within the EU range and UK. We still hope that all website visitors will adhere to LCP’s terms of use. Quite simply we ask that you do not break English Law with regard to your use of the blog and the website. If you do harm, you may be prosecuted. Fair enough.

To summarise here:

The LCP and our website designer aren’t asking you for any more of your data or to use it differently.

They have just updated their Privacy Policy to make clear to you:

what data LCT may collect from you online. They can only view personal information that you might actively submit to them. That’s all. If you want to write any comments on this blog or stay in touch in later life, that’s up to you, and it’s fine with the LCP as long as your messages don’t constitute SPAM, unsolicited commercial messages. Please don’t expect LCT to automatically publish comments or reply to SPAM comments and emails.

how LCT uses the data. We may publish comments that are intended for that purpose if they’re good and topical. We reserve the right not to publish comments, but we will reply to all important mail.

your rights in respect of your data.  You have the following rights to privacy regarding your data.

1.YOUR RIGHT TO VIEW ANY PERSONAL DATA THAT LCT HOLDS ABOUT YOU

This is the Opt-in information age. All personal details on file about you are those submitted for the purposes that you intended when you gave it to the LCT. The Data Protection laws give you the right to access information held about you, if any is held. Any access request may be subject to a fee of up to £20 to meet costs in providing you with details of the information (if any) that is held about you and any information request must be accompanied by acceptable proof of your identity. We don’t just give your data to any one who asks for it. It may very well cost nothing to provide that information to you, it depends upon the complexity involved. We’ll likely verify important or complex instructions with you by voice and possibly formal letter.

Please note that any personal digital and paper information you provided us is secured carefully.

SECURITY of DATA TENURE.

We recognize that it’s our duty of care to treat any private data that we may hold about you responsibly.

2.YOUR RIGHT TO HAVE SOME OR All DATA WE MAY HOLD ABOUT YOU DELETED

In the event that you’d like some or all your data deleted, please make your request to LCP in writing and if LCP has any of your data and you provide acceptable proof of your identity then we’ll serve your request faithfully.

YOUR RIGHT TO MOVE YOUR DATA OFF MY SERVER

If there’s data on this blog or website about you that you want off it then please contact LCP and we’ll arrange that for you.

INFORMATION IN EVENT OF DATA SECURITY BREACH

Data breaches can happen to even large organizations such as banks and govt. offices. If I become aware of theft or loss of any of your personal data from hacking or equipment failure or any other possibility I shall endeavour to alert you as soon as possible. Please alert me if you become aware of such a risk, such as a lost notebook or lap-top that would necessarily have security implications for us. You are entitled to be alerted within 72 hrs by GDPR rules, but I’d try to notify you quicker if I can and arrange the resetting of passwords and any other remedial action that might help. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you notice anything suspicious about the operation of LCP or LCT sites that we have had made or manage. Thank you.

5. YOUR RIGHT TO OBJECT TO THE KIND OF DATA THAT WE HOLD ABOUT YOU.

You can object if we hold some data about you that we don’t have a justifiable legal case to obtain or retain.

LCP only retains the information necessary to fulfil its legally justifiable roll as a community pub. The secretary is responsible for managing individual communications with shareholders. LCP does not indulge in unsolicited nor unwarranted communication.

As I said you don’t have to do anything to enable greater rights to the protection of your data, that is already granted by law. We still hope that all website visitors will keep to our terms of use though. If we keep to the law, everything’ll be fine.

I hope that you can use The Lyvennet Community Pub website and blog safely and with confidence.
